Department of Recording and Power ("DRP", "we", "us") operates a recording studio and record label in Glendale, California. This policy explains how we handle information in connection with this website and with drp-post, the tool we use to publish content to social media accounts that DRP manages.
Information we collect from visitors to this site
We do not collect personal information from visitors to this website. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run advertising, and we do not sell or share information about visitors with anyone.
Our web host may keep standard server logs, which can include IP addresses and browser information, for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to identify individuals.
Our publishing tool (drp-post)
drp-post schedules and publishes video and image content to TikTok and Instagram accounts that DRP manages: accounts belonging to DRP and its imprints, and accounts belonging to label artists and studio clients who choose to connect them. Each account holder connects their own account through TikTok's or Instagram's official login and consent screen, and nothing is posted without the account holder, or a DRP manager they have authorized, reviewing and approving the post.
What we receive from TikTok and Instagram
When an account is connected, we receive only what is needed to publish to it:
- Basic profile information, such as display name, avatar, and the platform's account identifier (for example, TikTok's open ID)
- Access tokens that allow us to publish content on the account holder's behalf
The tool also keeps the media files and captions to be published, and a record of what was posted and when.
How we use and store it
Access tokens are used only to publish content that the account holder has approved. Profile information is used only to show which account a post will go to. We do not sell this data, share it with anyone other than the platform the content is being published to, or use it for advertising or profiling.
This information is stored securely on DRP's own hardware, in files readable only by DRP's own user account.
Use of the TikTok API
drp-post uses TikTok's Login Kit and Content Posting API to publish approved videos to connected TikTok accounts. It requests only the permissions needed to do that, and does not use TikTok data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond publishing approved posts.
Use of Meta and Instagram APIs
drp-post uses Meta's Instagram Content Publishing API to publish approved images and videos to connected Instagram accounts. As above, it requests only the permissions needed to publish, and does not use Instagram data for any other purpose.
Retention and deletion
Access tokens are kept only while an account is connected, and are refreshed or replaced as the platforms require. When an account is disconnected, or when the account holder asks us to, we delete its access tokens and profile information. Media files and post records are kept for our reference and deleted on request.
Revoking access and requesting deletion
If your account is connected to drp-post, you can revoke access at any time:
- TikTok: in your TikTok app's settings, look under security or apps and permissions, and remove DRP's access.
- Instagram: in your Instagram app's settings, look under apps and websites or permissions, and remove DRP's access.
- Through us: email info@departmentofrecordingandpower.com and ask us to disconnect your account.
To have your data deleted, email info@departmentofrecordingandpower.com from the address associated with your account, or tell your DRP contact. We will delete your access tokens, profile information, and any stored media and post records for your account, and confirm when it is done.
Children
This site and drp-post are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
